Hundreds of thousands of dead monarchs litter the ground in El Rosario - note the tree stumps. The loss of insulation by cutting trees makes it impossible for the monarchs to survive.

These logs were stacked up along the road in Angangueo - probably illegally harvested. I suspect more logs are going to pulp mills than most people suppose.
